RAW decoding comparison

RAW decoding comparison, originally uploaded by eaghra. Ok, so last night I tried to go capture Comet Lulin, and frankly I chickened out from the cold and lack of a tall tripod. However, I did manage to catch it in a few shots and I thought it looked good on the lcd, but upon getting [...]

Coldest yet

Yeah, so that pic over there, it seems to becoming an annual tradition. Last year was -2 I believe, year before that was about the same. I’m not sure what the actual temp was today where I was, but I listened to NOAA a few times in the early afternoon and Madison was at -7. [...]

Jupiter

That there is Jupiter and its 4 major moons. Taken purely with the 40D and kit lens (EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM) at .5 seconds, f/5.6 and expanded ISO to 3200. Quite a bit of noise due to the non native ISO, but still, I’m shocked. Now if I could only get the right series of [...]

Kickapoo kickedamyass

Well, my 2 day weekend was ruined on Friday as I lost my supposed first day off in a month today. I had planned to cram as much travelling as I could in those two days, but I had to cut it to one. So I went to the Kickapoo River and paddled from Ontario, [...]

The squirrel trilogy

On Saturday, I saw the squirrel again. Once again, it was the same area, this time on yet another tree right across the street from the second tree, which was across the street from the first tree. If you have a severe aversion to cuteness, turn back now. 28 pictures, 1 video, and the most [...]

update

Well, the robin tried to attack me and I found the baby squirrel on the tree across the street. So I guess he lived. I damn near about walked into him on the ground before I saw him sitting there only about 5 feet away from me. Funny thing is that he didn't see me [...]

25,532

That number up there, 25,532, is big. What it represents is the amount of steps I take on my route. Ok, not my route, but the route I’m still filling in on. Yeah, I said I’d quit it when Ted came back and began casing mail again, which in turn cut my hours. But truth [...]
