Lately, my drive that contained all my music died. Well, it didn’t die, but something got corrupted and OSX absolutely refused to fix it since it was formatted FAT. Serves me right, but it at least let me copy everything off it before disallowing access. So I copied it all off, formatted and copied it [...]

Upgrade my library

So that DRM free iTunes I mentioned a while back came out today, and out of all the tracks I've bought over the years, which I can't even count, only 4 are upgradable. Now, at first I thought maybe it's because I've used some nefarious tools in the past to strip the drm off the [...]

HQ DRM-free iTunes

Damn, Jobs talks and people listen. Or maybe he was dropping hints. Anyways, Apple Unveils Higher Quality DRM-Free Music on the iTunes Store. In a nutshell, starting in May there will be 256kbs AAC sans DRM for $1.29 instead of $.99 from the EMI library. You can even upgrade your previous purchases for the difference. [...]

Thoughts on Music

Steve Jobs himself has written up a paper showing his thoughts on the music industry and why we need to abandon DRM. I think it's a great insight and really lays out hows and whys that it exists, but I also see it as an attempt to clear up the one hurdle Apple has the [...]

640 pixels of h.264, my butt

Yeah, so today was practically Christmas for the Mac geek. So many new toys, new life for old toys, and the chance to play with it all. The big one? It looks like the chip in the iPod is finally living up to spec that everyone knew about last year. h.264 decoding at up to [...]

Who Wants to be a Mac-ionaire

Here's a short little mac/apple history quiz in the form of Who Wants to be a Millionaire. You can keep trying over and over as it's the same questions in the same order, but I only made it to 25,000 before failing. After taking it again and getting past that, I made it to 500,000 [...]

A crapload of Apple movies and other stuff

This page has virtually every Apple commercial, promo and similar videos out there, as well as a few other non-Apple related videos that for some reason are part of the QuickTime heritage. The page is limited to 60MB/min tho as to not get a slashdotting type effect, so it may take some time to get [...]
