Well, I’m not actually bowling this year, but rather subbing for the guys in Stoughton, and tonight was night 1 of probably the next 4 since golf league is still going on for one member there.  Problem is, you see, these guys actually play to win on Thursdays as opposed to last year’s playing on Wednesdays with roughly the same crowd.  However, they’re out of people they know to sub, so they ask me, and it practically pains me to show up since I feel I’m doing them a disservice bringing their total pins down.  Every now and then, however, I even surprise myself.

The night started so freaking horrible, I was going to be happy to break 100 and I just wanted to ask them to forget about asking me to show up again.  Next game, no better and I was really just starting to not care at all.  Apparently that was all that was needed because out of nowhere in the 3rd game I got 5 strikes in a row.  As amazing as it was, being a first and all for me, and also being a clincher in hanging 2 people to buy rounds (lots of happy points there), all it managed to do was bring my average up to last year’s efforts.  So I guess I can’t complain as I eventually did my part that was expected of me.

But damn is that frustrating when you suck for no reason and have 5 opens in a row.
