I ran across far too much stuff in the downtime that I might as well post it all here. Some of it I lost, which is too bad.

  • Synergy – basically a software kvm sans the v. Install it on either mac, windows or *nix and basically use 1 keyboard or mouse to control them all. Simply drag your mouse over to the other computer like a dual display setup and that computer now has control of the inputs. very cool.
  • Speak Norn Iron – say that really fast and it might make sense what it means. This site had me rolling for hours. Take it tongue in cheek, though, as it's not meant to be a serious way to learn Irish or get along with them.
  • CAIN – While on norn iron, all about the conflict in Norther Ireland.
  • The Agonizer Special Unacceptable Edition – This is hilarious. the sad thing is that it's real and they are actually peddling it. But for a press release, I can't think of anything more hilarious.
  • I finally figured out what the insane 5 minute rumble coming from the airport is for exactly 3 years and 19 days now (big hint there). Now that I'm living a bit closer to it, I heard it and ran out to witness it last night. It's all the F-16's lining up and taking off one after another heading North. Essentially it's 5 minutes of afterburner pointed at Madison. For the longest time I thought that there was a bomber or something there that occasionally took off because that is not what the F-16's sound like when they take off heading south over Madison. And trust me, I hear that all the time now since they fly right over head and it's more of a screeching howl. And that's something you can't really hear downtown.

  • Oh yeah… those chinese guys in ffxi i ranted about. I managed to kill one of them a couple of times, all-the-while feigning innocence in how it happened, before attempting to report them to the GM's. I got a severely canned response back stating that trading of virtual property for monetary gain in real life is their number one priority and is dealt with by the legal department, however there is nothing they can do about any specific reported incident or conjecture and that I should try to enjoy the game around them. pfft…. how the hell is that possible when they're ruining it? anyways, a few days later none of them were to be seen and i haven't seen them or people like them since. muahahah! smells like…. victory.
  • Speaking of games – Gamer Jargon. I still have no idea what some people are saying sometimes in ffxi. This might help.
