Believe it or not, I started this little project when I moved into my place on Bedford St. back in 1/2001. My first one that I made in '98 grew out of control with snails somehow and no matter what I did, they always came back and multiplied into the hundreds. So when I moved that year, I ditched the thing altogether thinking I'd make a better one later. Well, when I moved into Bedford, there just so happened to be this MacPlus sitting in the trash. I took it immediately and then over the next week or two, went and got the glass cut for it and began clearing out the mac.

And then it just sat there.

Fast forward 4 and a half years, and I figure I'm going to finally finish making it. So here we are. Got it all sealed up, tested, mounted, purified and then cultured up some of the bio filter bacteria for a couple of days. The water got cloudy, so it was time to get the fish. For some reason, I laugh my ass off at this kind of mutant goldfish, so I thought that'd be a good one to start off the tank.

So I bring him home and start tempering the water to eventually put him in the tank. And what's the first thing he does? Takes a shit about as long as his body. Understandable, I guess, but the little klingon won't fall off. Even after I dump him in, he continues to shit and make the little string-like thing even longer.

I think I'm going to head out and find a better light, though. I just have a desk lamp sitting above the tank, and it's not all that bright.

In the meantime, here's some video of the thing in H.264 goodness. God I love this codec.
