So, I got a new camera last week because my ancient one bit the dust finally. It's not a great camera by any means, but it had a couple features that sold me in an instant. Shockproof from a 5' drop, waterproof to 10' and it doesn't have a funky rubberized, bulky casing to it. It's no bigger than any of your other pocket sized digital elph types, so it was a win for carrying around point and shoot and also taking on the water, trail, etc. I'll still eventually do a dslr at some point, but this fit the bill for the time being.

And that time being was to finally carry something with me every day to possibly take a photo of crazy stuff I see from time to time. Today, it was a hawk. Or maybe a falcon. I don't know my birds well enough to know, but I saw this one last doing my route in Monona a couple summers ago. There was a pair that were teaching a newborn how to fly/hunt/etc. It was a thrill watching them in the sky circling around and learning how to dive down and hopefully land with grace. Nobody around knew what it was, but everyone loved seeing them.

I'm fairly certain this is that same type of bird. It's definitely not the falcon type one that hung out at the main post office that put on such a show for us. That was far more slender and had grayer wings that covered more of the chest. However, there's actually two here. One was giving some food to the other, before taking off. You can see it just behind the larger branch to the left. This is the backyard of the house just behind my parents oddly enough. I think they were waiting on Daisy and Bandit to come outside…
